COURSES…
Learning is a journey. Coaching has a way of continually teaching us. A session goes well. Another doesn’t. A player surprises us. A game reveals something we hadn’t noticed before. Little by little, our understanding grows.
The SoulBall courses have been created to support that journey. They bring together the ideas, experiences and practical approaches that have shaped SoulBall over many years, helping coaches explore not only what they might do, but why they might do it.
The aim is not to provide every answer. It is to encourage curiosity. To help coaches observe more deeply. To ask better questions. To understand how environments influence learning.
And ultimately, to empower players through the beautiful game.
THE SOULBALL COACHING JOURNEY
The course is built around three connected stages.
Each stage explores a different part of the coaching journey, while continually returning to the same central ideas:
- Play
- Experience
- Awareness
- Freedom
- Responsibility
- Creativity
- Learning
THE SOULBALL COACHING JOURNEY
STAGE ONE
The Player
See Differently.
The journey begins with the person.
Stage One explores how players learn, how confidence grows, and how coaches can create environments where young people feel free to explore, make mistakes, solve problems and express themselves.
It asks us to consider the player not simply as someone learning football, but as a young person continually growing through their experiences of the game.

THE SOULBALL COACHING JOURNEY
STAGE TWO
The Game
Understand Differently.
Football constantly presents players with problems to solve.
Stage Two explores how players begin to see, understand and respond to the game around them.
Through ideas such as awareness, space, decision-making, relationships and small-number football, coaches are encouraged to consider how the game itself can become one of our greatest teachers.

THE SOULBALL COACHING JOURNEY
STAGE THREE
The Team
Create Differently.
As the game grows, relationships become increasingly important.
Stage Three explores how groups of players learn to function together.
Movement. Support. Transitions. Pressing. Width. Depth. Anticipation. Collective understanding.
It also looks more deeply at the coach’s role in shaping environments where these principles can emerge naturally through play.

MORE THAN LESSONS
The Coaching Journey includes practical resources designed to help coaches take the ideas from the course into their own environments.
These include support around:
- managing behaviour,
- supporting players with attention and behavioural needs,
- understanding age and stage,
- designing games and conditions,
- reflecting on your coaching,
- planning better sessions,
- and developing your own questions as a coach.
The aim is simple:
To help bridge the space between understanding an idea and applying it with real players, in real sessions.

WHO IS IT FOR?
The SoulBall Coaching Journey is for anyone curious about how people learn through football.
You may be taking your first steps into coaching.
You may have been coaching for many years.
You may work in grassroots football, schools, academies, futsal or another learning environment entirely.
Experience matters.
But curiosity matters too.
